I know,
it’s embarrassing; I have never owned an O.P.I. nail polish! As a nail polish fanatic,
this is an absolute disgrace… So, I picked up two O.P.I. polishes and now it’s
time to review them! Because I don’t want to combine them, as the colors don’t
go great together, I will start off with one, and in a later post, I will
review the other one!
Down To The
Core-al
Decisions, decisions… I decided to lose my O.P.I. virginity to O.P.I. Down To The Core-al from the Neon collection. This is a beautiful (you guessed it) coral color. If you take a closer look, it has a subtle shimmer to it that gives it a pinkish/red glow. I LOVE this color! It’s summery, bright, cheerful and yet classy. You can only get a rough idea of how beautiful this color is from the pictures, but I promise you, it is slightly like a summer fairy peed in a nail polish bottle!

Time to put
it on my nails!
Ok, so I opened up this lovely liquid and started polishing. The color is radiant and I’m very impressed with it. What I’m less impressed with, is its coverage. I ended up using 3 coats, but I kept seeing my smile line. It’s opaque down at my cuticle, but going up it just doesn’t seem to be able to cover my smile line. I considered using a fourth coat but I simply don’t want to! Before you know it, you have the start of a polish mountain, and no matter how funny Cristine Rotenberg brings it, that’s not something I desire in daily life.

So…
beside the fact that it’s not opaque enough to my taste, I’m also not one for a simple manicure and I decided to cheer it all up with a fancy gradient. Using Pupa Milano’s Pink Muse I covered my smile line problem and created a bit of fun with fancy tips. Overall I really like the color, I will keep using it, but not as a full manicure. I just hate to see my smile line through a manicure, so I will use this color in gradients and maybe some other nail art. It is very easy and nice to apply and overall a great polish, so with this color, O.P.I. gets the thumbs up!
